- Day 1 -


Arrival in the Heart of Tanzania

 

  • After landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK), you will be greeted by your private driver for a transfer to your accommodation near Lake Natron.

  • ​Spend the rest of the day relaxing by the pool, soaking in the warm temperatures, and recovering from your journey.

  • Enjoy a delicious dinner and rest well before your Ol Doinyo Lengai & Safari adventure begins.

Lake Walk to Lake Natron

 

  • Start your day early before sunrise with a guided walk to the shores of Lake Natron, renowned for its high alkalinity and as a crucial breeding ground for thousands of flamingos.

  • Take in the breathtaking scenery and learn more about this unique ecosystem from your local guide.

  • After breakfast at your accommodation, relax by the pool and recharge before your upcoming night trek.

The Ascent of Ol Doinyo Lengai

 

  • Later in the evening, get ready for the ascent of Ol Doinyo Lengai, the world’s only active carbonatite volcano, revered by the Maasai as the "Mountain of God."

  • The trek begins around midnight to avoid the scorching daytime temperatures.

  • The climb is steep and demanding, with loose volcanic ash and rocks, but it promises a unique and adventurous experience for seasoned trekkers.

Standing on the Sacred Summit (2,962 m)

 

  • Arrive at the summit of Ol Doinyo Lengai (2,962 m) just in time to witness a spectacular sunrise over the Great Rift Valley and Lake Natron.

  • Marvel at the unique carbonatite lava formations and the panoramic views.

  • After taking in the breathtaking scenery, you'll begin your descent.

Descending can be tricky due to loose terrain, which can also put strain on the knees. The use of trekking poles is strongly recommended, and it's important to pay attention to proper foot placement.

  • Back at your lodge, take time to rest and recover from your adventure.

  • If you have any energy left, you may explore more of the Lake Natron area.

The Endless Plains of Serengeti National Park

 

  • After breakfast, depart from Lake Natron and venture into the northern Serengeti, one of the best wildlife-viewing regions in Africa.

  • Keep your eyes on the horizon and spot the Big 5 - lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino - as well as cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, hyenas, ostriches, and all sorts of antelopes.

  • Enjoy your meal in a designated picnic area surrounded by the Serengeti’s incredible wildlife.

  • During the afternoon, quietly head toward your next accommodation dinner and overnight.

Wildlife Density in Central Serengeti

 

  • After an early breakfast, embark on another thrilling game drive through Central Serengeti, also known as Seronera, home to the highest concentration of wildlife in the park.

  • Today it's optional to enjoy a packed breakfast in the Jeep to catch animals in their most active moments.

  • Shortly after lunch, you'll have the opportunity to stop at the Serengeti Visitor's Center, where a guided tour awaits.

  • Learn about the Serengeti, Tanzania's Great Migration and all different ecosystems, flora and fauna.

  • Continue to explore the plains of the Serengeti  valley and witness millions of wildebeests, zebras, and predators in action.

  • End the day with dinner and an overnight stay in a lodge or tented camp in the southern Serengeti.


The Ngorongoro Crater  A Natural Wonder

 

  • Depart early for the Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most breathtaking natural wonders, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

  • Take in the jaw-dropping panoramic scenery from a viewing point at the crater rim.

  • Descend into the crater for a full-day game drive and witness the highest concentration of wildlife per square kilometer in Africa.

  • Look for buffaloes, elephants, lions, wildebeests, zebras, hippos, other feline species such as caracals and servals, and, if you're lucky, the endangered black rhino.

  • After a picnic lunch, ascend from the crater and drive to your accommodation near Lake Manyara for dinner and an overnight stay.

Tarangire National Park  Elephants & Baobabs

 

  • In the morning, depart for Tarangire National Park, famous for its large elephant herds and iconic baobab trees.

  • The landscape features a diverse range of ecosystems, including seasonal swamps, riverine woodlands, and open savannahs.

  • This rich habitat supports a wide variety of wildlife, from the elegant leopard and migratory wildebeest to rare species like the fringe-eared oryx and the long-necked gerenuk, along with over 500 bird species.

  • Enjoy a picnic lunch at a scenic spot in the park.

  • Return in the later afternoon to your accommodation and relax with dinner and a peaceful overnight stay.


Lake Manyara National Park & Terug naar Arusha

 

  • After breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara National Park, a paradise for bird lovers and home to the rare tree-climbing lions.

  • Explore the park’s dense forests and open plains within the park. and drive along the lake's shores and visit a hot spring, formed by volcanic activity.

  • Enjoy a meal at a designated picnic area within the park's borders.

  • In the late afternoon drive back in the direction of Arusha, after which your Stunning Kilimanjaro journey has come to an end.
